Sponsor a Child’s Education
Most children in Mukuru are living in extreme poverty. Parents are often unable to pay the cost of their children’s school fees. Children stay home to take care of their siblings, do household chores, or look for ways to bring in extra income. When sponsoring a child’s education, you join a dedicated group that believes every child deserves to be in school.
A quality education puts students on the path towards a successful future, where they can meet their basic needs and build a secure life for their families.
Sponsoring a child is a major investment in their future. Throughout your sponsorship you will create a life-long bond with the child by exchanging letters and photos. Over the years you will watch the child progress in school and hear about their hopes and dreams for the future.
The sponsorship fee is $2,000 and is made on an annual basis for as long as you are willing and able to support the child.
Here’s what you can expect when you sponsor a child
An introduction package with a biography and photo of the child
3 letters from the child each year
An annual photo of the child
Getting matched with a child will take approximately 6 weeks, depending on the waitlist and the Kenyan school year.
It’s about changing lives
It is our goal to support the children in Mukuru who are the most susceptible to dropping out of school, and we have implemented a long and arduous process for selecting candidates. We partner with local community organizations to identify at-risk families. Sponsorship is a life-changing opportunity for these families and we passionately believe that opportunity should go to the children who will benefit from it most.
